On Sunday at QE Boys our U18′s team qualified for the Play-Off round of Winter league Championships as they made the top Two in the North Division.
Following a change in the schedule as Northampton managed to field a team for Sunday’s games the Watford v Northampton game was second up and in an opening half the teams traded seven goals between them as Northampton edged it 3-4.
At the start of the second half Northampton edged further in front at 3-5 before our U18′s responded at 4-5, Northampton restored their two goal margin soon after (4-6) but the team weren’t done and a quick fire double had Watford level at 6-6 but with time running out Northampton got the breaks and took the game away from their rivals with three unanswered goals for a 6-9 win.
Watford’s next game was against local side Barnet and this really was a demolition job as the team took a 11-0 half time lead. The goals kept flowing in the second half with a further seven for an easy 18-0 victory.
Watford’s final game of the day was against Enfield and again it was another very professional job as Head Coach Edi Brkovic had his side firmly in control at half time with an 8-0 lead. In the second half the team turned on the style as they scored another 13 goals for an overall tally of 21-0.
So with Northampton winning all three of their games & Watford finishing as runners up in the North division both teams have qualified for the play-off’s and will be joined by two teams for the South Division.
The play-off round of matches will be held in early March at either Whitgift or Latimer Upper Schools.
