This Weekend (16th & 17th March) our U17′s head to Northampton for the qualification round of this season’s National Age Group Championships..
The team are in Grp B along with Bridgefield, City of Sheffield & local rivals West London Penguins..
With eight teams remaining in this season’s competition split into two groups of four, the top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals & finals.
If Watford are to make the finals round held at the Liverpool Aquatics Centre in mid April (16th & 17th) the team will need at least a win and a draw from their three matches.
Each match will be 4 x 8 mins quarters, rather then the two quarter games in the preliminary round so there is plenty of time to recover should we have a bad start to a match.
Watford start their campaign to make the finals on Saturday afternoon with a game against Bridgefield followed by two games on Sunday.
If the team can get off to a good start with a win over Bridgefield then their next game on Sunday morning at 9.10am against one of the favourites to win the overall U17′s NAG’s competition this season City of Sheffield will be an easy game with the knowledge that the team can still qualify should they lose to Sheffield by beating local rivals Penguins in their final game on Sunday afternoon.
With four other teams competing for the other two places in the finals from group A, Beckenham, City of Bristol, City of Manchester & Nova Centurion, there will be some good exciting games to watch this weekend.
The Watford U17′s team for the weekend’s matches will be:
Harvey Robinson, Josh Mills, Elias Thierry, Adam Lecombre, James Lamb, Keith Gibson, Ryan Dennis, Arav Bhatia, Max Cohen, Zak Kovacs, Irish Patel, Oscar Cook.
