The Men’s 1st team have advanced into this season’s London League Ref’s Cup final after defeating Guildford at Woodside pool on Sunday evening.

Peter Pickford (GK), Jack Warman, George Sadler, Andy Holt, David Koncz, Danny Davis, Petar Djordic, John Pickford, Nandor Cseh, Paul Skerm, Jared Baker, Richard Hime, Matt Irish.
Needing to overturn an eight goal deficit due to the competitions handicap rules, the team set about the task in earnest winning the 1st qtr 4-0 thanks to a brace from Andy Holt and goals from Hungarian due Nándor Cseh & Dávid Koncz.
The second qtr opened with Guildford scoring first but the team’s solid defence & with GB International goal Peter Pickford in fine form any further Guildford goals were avoided & the team hit back with six unanswered goals to take a half-time lead 10-1 (10-9 on Handicap). Goals came via another Holt brace, George Sadler, Danny Davis & solo efforts from Koncz & Cseh.
The 3rd period started with Guildford again scoring first to level the game on the handicap at 10-10 before then taking the lead at 10-11. But with 4.23 mins to play the team hit another purple patch to run in seven goals to take the game away from Guildford at 17-10. Another Holt brace to complete six for the evening, plus a Paul Skerm brace and goals from Jack Warman, Richard Hime & Koncz doing the damage.
The final period saw the team control possesion and with Peter Pickford in fine form the team scored a further three goals to one to finish the match 20-4 (20-12). Warman, Matt Irish & Petar Djordjic with the goals.
The team now advance to the final in November for a chance to win the trophy they last won back in 2015 and will face one of three sides remaining in the other half of the draw – Croydon, Beckenham or Blue Marlins.
