U19′s progress to next round of NAG’s competition 2019….

Today at Matlock pool our U19′s made it through the preliminary round of this season’s NAG’s Competition.Twelve teams entered at the preliminary stage split into two groups of Six with Grp A playing Saturday and teams from Sheffield, Newton Abbott, Bridgefield and Scottish side Caledonia have progressed to the qualification round to be held at Habs School over the weekend of the 23rd & 24th March..

Watford drawn in Grp B opened their five match campaign against Beckenham and won 9-3, the team then won the next three matches beating City of Birmingham 7-3,  City of Leeds 8-2 & Northampton 6-2.

With City of Manchester also winning their opening four matches the teams final match against them would decide the group winners. Manchester proved far too strong as they ran out 7-1 winners.

This disappointing lose shouldn’t take the gloss of a great days polo as the team are now into the last eight.

The format for the next round will see the eight teams split into two groups of four. Each team will play three group games with the top two sides in each group progressing to the finals weekend to be held in Liverpool in April..

The Watford U19′s were coached by Edi Brkovic and recently appointed England U19′s coach Dean Walker.
