Big weekend ahead as Five teams are in action….

This weekend (13th& 14thOctober) the club has Five teams  & an impressive 58 players in action as our Boys U15’s A & B sides are in the Swim England National Age Group Championships (NAG’s) at the Manchester Aquatic Centre on Saturday & on Sunday our Ladies U15’s are also in NAG’s U15’s competition at the same venue.

Over at Ponds Forge Sheffield our Men’s 1st& Saxons teams are in BWPL action as our 1stteam starts their campaign in Div Two & our Saxons continue with their Div Five campaign with games on both Saturday & Sunday.

The weekend’s action starts with the NAG’s U15’s Boys Championships with eighteen teams entered into this year’s competition split into six groups our A team will be looking to improve on last season’s third place finish.

The A team who are drawn in Group C face New Centurion in their opening game and then play Welsh side Cwm Draig. And the team will need to finish top of their group if they are to progress into the latter stages of the competition and play one of the other five group winners to progress into the semi-finals & beyond.

A Team squad for NAG’s is:

Daniel Moos, Arish Patel, Benjamin Sherrett, Dilan Velani, Ethan Wyatt, Joe Fox, Joseph Turnbull, Luka Atkinson, Max Dingle, Oskar Cook, Ryan Dennis, Thomas Spinks.

Our B team is in Group D along with City of Manchester B team & Devonport. The squad is as follows:

Eric Sirghi, Aaron Horwood, Ayur Pulle, Coen Kazum, Dylan Munday, Jack Leeson, Luka Shaw, Tanush Pandey, Christopher Horwood.

Our U15’s Girls team are also in NAG’s competition for the first time on Sunday again at the Manchester Aquatic Centre and with eight teams entered split into two groups our Ladies will need to finish as high as second if they are to progress into the latter stages. They start their campaign against Cheltenham, then face Otter Futra before finishing the group stage against City of Sheffield.

Girls U15’s team is as follows:

Ana Shaw, Caitlin Winkworth, Charlotte Leeke, Ella Holm, Eve Barnes, Georgia Corcoran, Katherine Weller, Laura Page, Megan Colderwood, Sabrina Radzik-Rahman, Sophie Prior.

Over at Ponds Forge Sheffield our Men’s 1stteam starts their BWPL Division Two campaign early on Saturday afternoon when they play Welsh Wanderers. On late Saturday afternoon our Saxons team play the British Army and having won their opening two games and are current league leaders another win over the Army side will see the Saxons reach their first objective of the season and make the top five and progression into Championship Four for the second half of the season.

Our 1st Team Captain & GB International Goalie Peter Pickford is looking forward to the start of the competition and said “We have a great young squad & if we play to our potential we can make top five & progress to Championship One”.

On Sunday afternoon our Saxons team are back in the pool & will face City of Sheffield second string the Dolphins following this match the 1stteam will face Scottish side Caledonia in their second game of their Div two campaign.
