This weekend Watford players were out in force at the Inter-Region Championship in Walsall. I also watched the East Region games, but I’ll let one of our East Region parents tell their story. This is how it happened for London Region. Continue reading
With several players unavailable due to injury and holidays, we took 9 players to Whitgift for the penultimate U14 London League tournament. I’m happy to say that we came out of the tournament the same way we went into it – unbeaten with maximum points. That’s not to say though, that it was easy… Continue reading
The U14 boys travelled up the M1 to play a friendly against Northampton Water Polo Club on Saturday 30th November. Watford Ladies also made the trip and the boys sat and watched the girls play well and secure a 10-3 (I think) victory before their match. Continue reading
Sunday 24th November saw Watford hosting U14London League matches at QE Boys. There were a lot of games to get through – 11! No idea why this was the case, but ours is not to reason why… so it was decided to make each game 4 and a half minutes (actual play) each way. This shorter running time made it more difficult to rotate the squads in the water and more important not to make silly mistakes – as there would be less time to put them right. We had three tough matches to play: against Enfield, Sutton & Cheam, and Basildon. Continue reading
Thanks to a series of last minute availability issues (including overnight vomiting for one player and a visit to A&E for another) only eight players lined up for the first games of the London Winter League at Whitgift. So every player knew they were going to have to work hard. But all the recent extra fitness and tactical training must be working because they all stepped up their games today. Continue reading
Croydon was once again the venue for our All Stars team to take on four competitor teams as our heroes sought to finish as high as possible in the league. With only eight players and the last two matches being back to back, this was going to be a tough afternoon of water polo. As always, our All Stars stepped up to the plate (or jumped in at the deep end!!) to play some fantastic water polo through the course of the afternoon. Continue reading
Yesterday at the London Youth Games at Crystal Palace – Europe’s largest youth sports event – the Barnet team came third, narrowly missing a place in the final. For Barnet, read Watford. The players are from Watford; Steve Chambers, the coach, is from Watford; the magnificently efficient Team Manager, *ahem* me, is also from Watford; as were the polo hats.
Team members were Michael Miller (GK), Miranda Carling, Rhiannon Ellis, Lauren Botje, Ollie Nash, Daniel Santosh, Louis Walocheck, Yohann Panthakee, Jonny Walker, Kavi Shah, Joey Gardner-White, Sahil Shah, and Alex Jones. Continue reading
An email did go out, but just in case you missed it, we have had to cancel this Monday’s training session at Borehamwood as The Venue have decided to close the pool early due to the Bank Holiday.
Apologies for the late notice and all other training as normal.
The fixtures live site is currently having issues, so our results pages aren’t working. Normal service should be resumed as soon as they can fix the problem with fixtures live.
