1st team start BWPL Phase Two campaign Saturday at Woodside & it’s a chance to see Miho Boskovic …

This weekend at Woodside our Men’s 1st team start their BWPL Championship two campaign with three London derbies against Croydon, Penguins & Otter.


The team will be looking to hit the ground running and secure three wins as they look to gain promotion and return to Division Two for the start of the 2019-20 season.

Also this weekend our Head Coach Edi Brkovic has called on one of his long-term friends and fellow Croatian Miho Boskovic to come out of retirement and help propel the team to these required victories.

Miho was one of the pillars of the successful Croatian team that convincingly took the Olympic gold medal at London 2012 beating Italy in the final 8-6 scoring twice in the final as the former Jug-player finished as the team’s top scorer with fifteen goals.

Following his London success Miho was awarded the European Athletes of the Year 2012 award by the European Swimming governing body LEN he was also previously appointed the World’s Best player in 2007.

Miho has had an illustrious career as part of a very successful Croatian team playing 108 matches for the National team as they won the gold medal at the 2012 Olympics, as well as Gold’s at the world championships in Melbourne Australia (2007), the European championships (2010) and bronze medals at the 2009 and 2011 World Championships.

Miho also played for many years for his home-town club Jug Dubrovnik and while with Jug he won the LEN Euro league Championship in 2006, the European Super Cup and several Croatian National championships & Cup finals.

This weekend’s matches presents a unique opportunity to see one of the World’s best Water Polo players up close and with two games on Saturday against Croydon at 14.15pm & West London Penguins at 19.15pm at Woodside Pool and then against London Otter on Sunday afternoon at 14.15pm the club would encourage as many members as possible to watch Miho at close quarters and cheer on the 1st team to victory..
